The Hunchback of Notre Dame, adapted from Victor Hugo’s classic novel, premiered on June 21, 1996.  The film, directed by Beauty and the Beast directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, centers on Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame.  The film features songs by Steven Schwartz and Alan Menken, vocal performances by Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Kevin Kline and Tony Jay, and was produced by Don Hahn.

The most critically-acclaimed film of 1996, The Hunchback of Notre Dame earned $325 million worldwide, and received an Oscar nomination for Alan Menken’s epic musical score.  It was later adapted into a Broadway musical that premiered on stage in Berlin.
